Tap Test has Credibility!
Tap testing, or percussion testing, with a Composite Tap Hammer, is a recognized test used in many industries. Tap testing provides information that is not available visually. This specially designed hammer is lightweight, non-destructive and useful for flooring inspections.
Tap test procedure for Expansion Space:
Tap as close as possible along the wall, base, or T-moldings. A dull/thud sound indicates something is tight. Hollow sounds indicate there is space. Other uses:
Test for veneer delamination on engineered wood, laminate and luxury vinyl products.
Glue downs: locate areas bridging low spots, and loose or hollow spots below any hard surface flooring material.
Remember: Always perform comparison tap tests to best define Affected vs Non-affected areas.
– Loose areas compared to tight areas.
– Cupped areas compared to flat areas
– Cracked tile vs non-cracked tile.
